December 7th, 2008 -- The Decision to Play

It’s no secret I’m a geek, but up until this point I’ve been a geek that doesn’t play World of Warcraft. It’s one of those things that I’m almost positive I’ll love, but I just haven’t taken the plunge yet. The biggest reason for not playing is probably the fact that it isn’t on any of the consoles. I’ve always preferred console gaming especially the Nintendo systems. The fact that WoW is on the mac makes it an easier decision to try the game. I’ve sworn off PCs, life is just too short.

Like I said, I’ve always been interested in trying World of Warcraft but the season two premiere of “The Guild” has made it impossible to resist any longer. If you haven’t heard of “The Guild” it’s an online comedy about a group of World of Warcraft players written by and starring the incredible Felcia Day (Buffy, Dr.Horrible). Check out watchtheguild.com

So today I start my journey into the World of Warcraft. Most normal human beings just go buy a game and start playing but not me. I’m not only blogging about the experience but I’ve started researching it first. I’ve decided to learn as much as I can before starting to play, its not an attempt to excel at the game right away but rather to get the most out of it. I don’t have time to play 50 hours a week like many do, so I want to maximize my time.
